Patient Transporter

The hospital desperately needed some means of transporting their patients between Departments for treatment.   We sent wheelchairs donated by Surfers Sunrise Rotary Club and made from old bicycles.

Bike vee-frames form the main frame of the wheelchair; handlebars are cut and turned backwards;  tyre tubes are removed and replaced by swimming pool noodles.

Inmates incarcerated in an Australian prison have supported the project by painting the plywood frames.  This is a great Australian initiative supporting the people in many Third World Countries!

Do you have an unwanted wheelchair or disability equipment you could donate for us to send to our Pacific Island neighbours? Please feel free to contact us if you do.
